Telangana Surgeon Dr Bhoom Reddy Passes Away at 91
Karimnagar: The medical fraternity of Telangana is mourning the loss of one of its most esteemed doctors, Dr. Bhoom Reddy, who passed away on Monday evening at the age of 91 due to age-related health complications. He was undergoing treatment at Chalmeda Ananda Rao Institute of Medical Sciences at the time of his passing.
Recognised as the first general surgeon in North Telangana, Dr. Bhumreddy made exceptional contributions to the fields of urology and neurosurgery. Despite opportunities abroad, he chose to dedicate his life to the service of the poor in his homeland, particularly in the Karimnagar district. Throughout his illustrious career, Dr. Bhumreddy received multiple gold medals during his medical studies and gained international recognition for his work. He also held leadership roles, notably as National Vice-President of the Indian Medical Association (IMA) and President of the Karimnagar IMA chapter.Also Read: Former PGIMER director Dr BK Sharma no moreHis medical journey saw him contributing significantly across Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, and Andhra Pradesh in his early career. Eventually, he established his base in Karimnagar. Among his many remarkable achievements, he was credited with having performed surgery on India’s first Prime Minister, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru.Dr. Bhumreddy was instrumental in the establishment of several permanent institutions in Karimnagar, including the Lions Club Rekurthi Eye Hospital, Sushruta Cancer Hospital, Karimnagar Red Cross Society, the IMA Building Trust, and IMA Haritha Haram. He also played a foundational role in the establishment of CAIMS

He expressed condolences on his death. He expressed his deepest condolences to the family members, reports NT News.
The funeral took place on Tuesday morning at the Sapthagiri Colony burial ground in Karimnagar.
