Ludhiana: Due to a violation of the Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques (PC-PNDT) Act 1994, the Ludhiana district health department recently sealed a scan centre in the city. The action was taken following an inspection that revealed a violation of documentation rules in the centre. The inspection team discovered that the centres violated the PC-PNDT Act 1994. Consequently, stringent measures were implemented to uphold the enforcement of the PC-PNDT Act.The raid was conducted on the directions of civil surgeon Dr Pardeep Kumar and the district family welfare officer Ramandeep Kaur after they received an unsatisfactory response to their previous warnings. Also read- Death of 26-year-old Man Following Bariatric Surgery: Chennai Hospital sealed, Registration temporarily cancelledSpeaking to TOI, District Family Welfare Officer Ramandeep Kaur said, “The centre was found to be in violation of documentation rules during an inspection.”Similarly, Civil surgeon Dr Pardeep Kumar said “Despite warnings, the centre’s response was unsatisfactory, leading to this raid.”Medical Dialogues team had earlier reported that a surprise inspection conducted by Deputy Director of Medical and Rural Health Services Dr Kanagarani found that the owner of a pharmacy was treating patients instead of a doctor at a private clinic. As a result, both the clinic and the medical shop were sealed.During the inspection, Dr Kanagarani found that the pharmacy owner without a medical degree was treating patients despite the clinic being operated under Dr Marshall Mahesh Antony. The pharmacy owner accused of consulting patients without a medical degree refused to present herself before the inspection team. As a result, the duo were instructed to appear at the office of the Deputy Director of Medical and Rural Health Services for an explanation with relevant documents.Also read- Tamil Nadu clinic sealed after pharmacist found treating patients
