New Delhi- The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) issued the schedule and guidelines regarding the conduct of Internal Appraisal for the academic year 2025 for NBEMS Trainees.Through the notice, NBEMS has instructed all the NBEMS Accredited Institutions to conduct the annual Internal Appraisals in the year 2025 for the trainees of the following batches as per below below-mentioned schedule in accordance with the Guidelines prescribed by NBEMS.Also Read: NBE Declares FET 2024 Results, Merit List, Scorecards Available from March 29S.NOCOURSESESSIONTIMELINE (INCLUSIVE OF BOTH DATES START AND END) 1Broad Specialty Courses (3-Year Course).1st Year trainees of 2024 Admission Session.1st September to 15th September 2025.3rd Year trainees of 2022 Admission Session.22nd March to 05th April 2025.2Super Specialty Courses (3-Year Course).1st Year trainees of 2024 Admission Session.1st December to 15th December 2025.3rd Year trainees of 2022 Admission Session.1st June to 15th June 2025.3Post Diploma Courses (2 Year Course).2nd Year trainees of the 2023 admission session.22nd March to 05th April 2025.4Fellowship Courses (2-Year Course).2nd Year trainees of the 2023 admission session.1st September to 15th September 2025.5Direct 6 years Courses (6 Year Course).1st Year trainees of 2024 Admission Session.1st September to 15th September 2025 3rd Year trainees of 2022 Admission Session.1st December to 15th December 2025.5th Year trainees of 2020 Admission Session.1st June to 15th June 2025.6NBEMS Diploma Courses (2 Year Course).2nd Year trainees of the 2023 admission session.22nd March to 05th April 2025Meanwhile, the notice also instructed that the Internal Appraisal shall be conducted by the hospitals as per the guidelines prescribed by NBEMS. The guidelines include the Guidelines for Conduct of Internal Appraisal, Syllabus for the Internal Appraisal & Impact on Final Examination of the trainees, Timeline for Conduct of Internal Appraisals and Submission of Report of Internal Appraisal to NBEMS.GUIDELINES FOR CONDUCT OF INTERNAL APPRAISALThe assessment scheme consists of three parts as indicated below-S.NOPARTPARTICULARSEXAMINATIONS1PART – I CONDUCT OF THEORY EXAMINATION.A trainee has to appear for a theory exam to be held on a single day only.2PART – IIIPERFORMANCE COUNSELING SESSIONS ON THE THEORY PERFORMANCE.The evaluated answer sheets of the trainees shall be handed back to them after completion of the assessment, for discussion with their respective Head of Departments & faculty.3PART – IIIWORKPLACE BASED CLINICAL ASSESSMENT.After the theory examination, trainees have to appear for a Clinical Assessment.SYLLABUS FOR THE INTERNAL APPRAISAL & IMPACT ON FINAL EXAMINATION OF THE TRAINEES1 The exercise of Internal Appraisal shall cover areas of knowledge as per the standard training curriculum and guidelines. The trainees shall be assessed for knowledge as per the curriculum in a composite manner.2 This would further add value to the services being rendered in these accredited hospitals/institutions. The process of Internal Appraisal is an integral part of teaching as it is essentially positive in intent and directed towards promoting learning. The result of Internal Appraisal shall not impact the score of the Final Examination of the trainees.
