Prescribing Medicines, Tests over Phone not Gross Negligence: HC comes to rescue of gastroenterologistHealth Ministry Proposal to Curb Misleading Health Ads Remains on holdFive years have passed since the Union Health Ministry proposed amending the Drugs and Magic Remedies (Objectionable Advertisement) Act, 1954, to take strict action against instances of misleading advertisements. While the Draft in this regard was put in the public domain on 03.02.2020, the proposal has been kept on hold, as there has been no development in this regard after November 2022, the Union Health Ministry informed in response to a Right to Information (RTI) application.The RTI was filed by Dr. KV Babu, a Kerala-based health activist. Filing the RTI, Dr. Babu had sought to know the status of the Draft of the Drugs and Magic Remedies (Objectionable Advertisements) (Amendment) Bill, 2020. Health Ministry Draft to Curb Misleading Health Ads Remains in Cold StorageNMC Issues Show-Cause Notices to WB Medical Colleges over Faculty Shortage, Irregular AttendanceThe National Medical Commission (NMC) has issued show cause notices to several medical colleges in Bengal after finding out that the faculties at the medical colleges have been “irregular” and the teaching hospitals had an acute shortage of faculty, The Telegraph has reported.According to the State Health Department sources, among the 38 medical colleges in the state, most of them were issued show-cause notices by the NMC.The list also included Kolkata-based State-run Nil Ratan Sircar Medical College and Hospital (NRSMCH).
