Gujarat University to establish new medical college with 100 MBBS seats

Gujarat- In a major development for future MBBS admissions in the state, the Gujarat University (GU) has recently made an announcement regarding the establishment of a new medical college and a 300-bed hospital. This will enhance the state’s healthcare facilities and provide modern medical education on the lines of institutions like NHL Medical College.A joint meeting of GU’s Board of Management and Executive Council was conducted recently, wherein the decision was made during the meeting. The proposed medical college will include an outpatient department and a helipad for air ambulance services in future. In addition, GU plans to run the new medical college following the same operational model used by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation for its medical facility.Firstly, the land will be surveyed and a proposal will be sent to the government for approval following the necessary procedures. After getting the government approval, a proposal will be sent to the Medical Commission for 100 seats in the college in the coming academic year.
