Former Thane corporator booked for abusing doctor after car collision

Thane: The Rabodi Police have registered a case against a former corporator of the Thane Municipal Corporation for allegedly abusing a doctor after ramming his car into another vehicle, an official said on Thursday.According to the Rabodi police, a government orthopaedic surgeon was travelling in his car when it was hit by a vehicle driven by the accused, Mahesh Suresh Wagh of Shiv Sena, at Meenatai Thackeray chowk on Tuesday, reports PTI.As per a media report in the TOI, the doctor and his sister were returning home in their car after picking up a food parcel from Vikas Complex. As they approached the Meena Tai Thackeray Chowk, another car driven by Mahesh Wagh allegedly recklessly in the wrong lane collided with the doctor’s vehicle.The doctor’s car suffered damages due to the impact, said his complaint.Also Read:Thane Doctor sentenced for abusing Traffic CopThe doctor told the police that Wagh abused him with foul language and even slapped him. He accused Wagh of driving under the influence of alcohol.The police, quoting the FIR, said that the doctor’s sister also attempted to stop the accused by standing in front of Wagh’s car, but he allegedly continued to drive forward, endangering her as well. A case has been registered against Wagh under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita 281 (rash driving or riding on a public way), 115(2) (voluntarily causing hurt), 352 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace), and 324(4) (mischief), as well as Motor Vehicles Act, the official said.Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that in a disturbing incident at the Prathipadu Community Health Centre (CHC) on International Women’s Day, Jana Sena Party (JSP) chief and Deputy Chief Minister, Konidela Pawan Kalyan, ordered an inquiry following a confrontation between JSP Prathipadu in-charge, Varupula Thammayya Babu, and a woman doctor.
