A better understanding of ‘active life expectancy’ in older adults

Most older adults prioritize retaining the ability to bathe, dress, walk, and perform household tasks independently as they age. Yet much is yet to be understood about the causes of disability among this age group. In a new Yale study published in JAMA Network Open, researchers examined the differences in active and disabled life expectancy among older people who experience illness and injury.
